I created a test PhotoMosaic with AndreaMosaic Professional, using the base image I thought I was going to use for the actual piece. My original idea was to build off the colours Moni and Nat were using for the wedding and use primary colours, using duotoned photos for the background PhotoMosaic. The test print involved 2 mosaics:
After I generated the test mosaic I had to try and figure out:
When I first emailed various printers with my idea (CMYK colour separations printed onto transparencies and overlaid onto a lightbox) I didn't get many replies, probably because they thought I was quite insane. But I did 'snag' a very helpful fellow from Look Print who kept answering my questions, which meant I kept asking them... and we eventually got through to some sort of plan. He had no idea if the idea would work, had never heard of anything like it before, but was willing to give it a go (I was paying after all). So I sent him the four artwork files to be printed on A4 and cut into 2xA5 each.
I had done a sanity check on my dot-matrix printer onto overhead transparencies, but I was very happy with the printer's results:
